What's the Difference Between Weighted Total and Global?

Learn the difference between Weighted Total and Global results and how each metric is used in your reports.

Overview

Although Weighted Total and Global may appear similar, they represent two different ways of aggregating data within your report.

Understanding the distinction helps you interpret your results more accurately when comparing entities across countries.

Weighted Total

Weighted Total represents the combined results from all countries currently included in the Demand reporting dataset.

At present, this calculation is based on the 19 countries supported by Demand reports.

Rather than representing every country worldwide, the Weighted Total combines the available country-level data into a single weighted result.

Use this metric when you want to compare entities across all countries currently measured by the platform.

Global

Global represents the broader concept of worldwide coverage.

Unlike Weighted Total, Global refers to all locations around the world, rather than only the countries currently included in Demand reports.

This provides a worldwide perspective that is separate from the weighted aggregation of supported reporting markets.

Key Differences

Weighted Total Global
Includes only the countries currently supported by Demand reports. Represents the worldwide or global scope.
Currently calculated using data from the 19 supported reporting countries. Refers to all locations globally.
Provides a weighted aggregate across supported markets. Represents the standard concept of global coverage.

Which Should I Use?

The appropriate metric depends on your analysis:

  • Use Weighted Total when comparing entities across the countries currently included in Demand reports.
  • Use Global when you want to reference worldwide coverage or compare results from a global perspective.

Understanding which metric you're viewing ensures you're interpreting your report within the correct geographic scope.
