What Happens if an Entity Has a Private Social Media Account?
Learn how Digital Intelligence handles entities that have private social media accounts and how this affects your report.
Overview
If an entity has a social media account (handle) that is set to private, Digital Intelligence may not be able to retrieve data from that platform.
When no data is available, the platform simply excludes that specific account from the platform-level analysis while continuing to calculate all other available insights.
How Private Accounts Are Handled
If an entity's account is private and no data can be retrieved:
- The platform-specific score for that account is exported as empty.
- No value is assigned for that platform.
- The account is excluded from that platform's analysis.
This behavior indicates that the data is unavailable—not that the entity received a score of zero.
Does This Affect the Overall Demand Score?
No.
A private account does not negatively impact:
- The overall Demand Score
- Scores from other supported platforms
- The analysis of publicly available data
Only the platform where data cannot be accessed is affected.
Why Does This Happen?
Digital Intelligence only analyzes data that is publicly available or accessible through supported data sources.
If a social media platform restricts access to a private account, the platform cannot retrieve the information required to generate a score.
Rather than estimating or assigning an inaccurate value, Digital Intelligence leaves that platform score empty.
