Audiences - Definition
Learn what audiences are in Audiense Connect, the different audience types available, and how they support audience management, advertising, and analysis.
Overview
An Audience is a collection of X (formerly Twitter) users that meet a specific set of criteria defined during the audience creation process.
Audiences are one of the core features of Audiense Connect and serve as the foundation for many platform capabilities. Once an audience has been created, you can explore its members, organize them, analyze their characteristics, and use the audience across other Audiense products and integrations.
For example, audiences can be used to:
- Explore members on the Community Wall.
- Analyze audience characteristics and engagement.
- Create Audiense Insights reports (depending on your subscription).
- Build advertising audiences for X Ads.
- Monitor and manage communities over time.
Audience Types
Audiense Connect supports three audience types, each designed for a different use case.
| Audience Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Static Audience | Created once and remains unchanged unless you manually add or remove members. Ideal for preserving a fixed group of users. |
| Dynamic Audience | Automatically updates as users meet the behavioral rules defined during audience creation. Useful for ongoing engagement and automation. |
| Periodic Audience | Automatically refreshes on a weekly basis to include new users who match the selected criteria while maintaining an up-to-date audience. |
Explore an Audience
Once an audience has been created, you can view detailed information about its members throughout Audiense Connect.
Depending on your subscription, you can:
- Browse members on the Community Wall.
- Search and filter users.
- View relationships between users.
- Explore followers and following data.
- Identify interactions with your authenticated accounts.
- Organize users with Tags and Lists.
- Create Audiense Insights reports for deeper audience analysis.
Connect an Audience to X Ads
Audience cards include an option to connect the audience to X Ads.
To be eligible for synchronization, an audience must contain at least 1,000 members.
If the audience doesn't meet this minimum size, the Connect to X Ads button remains unavailable.
Once synchronization is complete, the audience displays an Available in X Ads status, indicating that it's ready for use in advertising campaigns.
