Create Audiences Based on Profile Attributes

Learn how to create audiences based on profile attributes in Audiense Insights using the Basic or Advanced Audience Insights Manager.

Overview

Follow this guide to learn how to create audiences based on profile attributes in Audiense Insights.

Defining your audience is the first step when creating an Insights report. Audiense allows you to build audiences using profile attributes through either the Basic Audience Insights Manager or the Advanced Audience Insights Manager, depending on your subscription plan. Both options allow you to define an audience using profile information, while the Advanced Audience Insights Manager provides additional filtering capabilities for creating more targeted audiences.

Note: The Advanced Audience Insights Manager is only available to users with an Audience Insights plan. Users on the Free or Twitter Marketing plans can create audiences using the Basic Audience Insights Manager only.

Basic Audience Insights Manager

The Basic Audience Insights Manager provides a simple way to define an audience using a limited set of profile attributes. Using this manager, you can build audiences based on:

  • Followers of an X @handle, including your own community or a competitor's audience.
  • Job roles provided in user profiles.
  • Keywords included in user biographies.
  • User interests.
  • Country.

When selecting criteria, make sure you choose the appropriate option from the available suggestions. You can also add multiple values within a filter. Each additional value expands the audience by using OR logic, meaning users matching any of the selected values will be included.

Advanced Audience Insights Manager

The Advanced Audience Insights Manager provides greater flexibility for building highly targeted audiences.

To access it, select "here" at the bottom of the Basic Audience Insights Manager page.

Once opened, you can create detailed audience definitions by combining multiple filters. After adding each filter, select Apply before continuing to build your audience. When you have finished defining your audience, select Next to continue creating your Insights report.

Available Filters

The Advanced Audience Insights Manager includes a wide range of filtering options for building precise audiences.

Available filters include:

  • Age
  • Biography
  • Entity
  • Followers
  • Gender
  • Interests
  • Job Title
  • Language
  • Location

For more information about each available filter, refer to the related documentation.

Inclusion and Exclusion Rules

The Advanced Audience Insights Manager also supports inclusion and exclusion rules. These rules allow you to further refine your audience by specifying which users should be included or excluded from the final audience definition. Combining inclusion and exclusion rules with Boolean operators provides additional flexibility when building highly targeted audiences.
