Insights Report Generation Time

Learn what affects Insights report generation time, which report types generate more quickly, and what to expect after launching a report.

Overview

Follow this article to learn why some Audiense Insights reports generate faster than others.

When creating an Insights report, you may notice that some reports are available within a few minutes, while others take longer to complete. This difference is expected and depends on the complexity of the audience being analyzed.

Regardless of how long a report takes to generate, the insights included in the completed report remain the same. Generation time only affects how quickly the report becomes available, it does not affect the quality or depth of the analysis.

What Affects Report Generation Time?

Two primary factors determine how long an Insights report takes to generate:

  • Audience size
  • Report creation method

Smaller audiences generally require less processing time than larger audiences. Likewise, certain report creation methods allow Audiense to generate reports much more quickly because the audience has already been defined before the report is launched.

Reports That Generate More Quickly

Some reports can typically be generated within 5 to 20 minutes, although many are available in approximately 5 minutes, depending on the complexity of the audience definition.

Reports are generally faster to generate when:

  • The audience contains fewer than 20,000 members.
  • The audience is created from an uploaded file (such as a custom TXT file or supported Meltwater or Sysomos format).
  • The report is based on Conversations, using hashtags, keywords, or URLs.
  • The audience originates from a Meltwater search.
  • The audience was first created in Audiense Connect and then imported into Audiense Insights.
  • The report is generated from the members of an existing audience segment.
  • The report is launched from Pulsar (for customers using both Pulsar and Audiense).
  • The report is based on one or more account follower audiences.

These report types typically require less processing because the audience has already been identified before report generation begins.

What You'll See When Launching a Report

After launching your report, Audiense will display an estimated generation time.

Although the interface may indicate that the report will be available within 20 minutes, many reports are completed much sooner, often within approximately 5 minutes. Actual generation time depends on the size of your audience and the complexity of the audience definition.

Monitoring Report Progress

While your report is generating, the report list displays its current status along with a progress indicator.

Once report generation has finished, the status will automatically update and the report will become available in your dashboard.

You'll also receive a notification in your Audiense inbox when the report is ready to view.

What If My Report Takes Longer?

Although many reports generate quickly, larger or more complex audiences may require additional processing time.

If your report has not finished generating after the expected timeframe, allow a few additional minutes before checking again.

If you continue to experience unusually long generation times or believe your report may be delayed, you can contact the Audiense Support team using the Contact Us option within the platform or by emailing help@audiense.com.
