Overview
Follow this article to learn how to build and manage target audiences in Audiense Connect.
Creating well-defined audiences is one of the core capabilities of Audiense Connect. Whether you're building an audience for community engagement, campaign planning, or targeted advertising, the platform provides several tools to help you identify and organize the people that matter most to your business.
In this article, you'll learn how to create audiences with the Audience Manager, discover new users based on specific criteria, and explore the members of your existing community.
Create a Target Audience
The Audience Manager allows you to create personalized audiences based on user profiles, social relationships, and user activity. These audiences can be analyzed, managed, and used throughout Audiense Connect to support engagement and marketing initiatives.
In general, the more refined your audience definition is, the more targeted your campaigns and engagement efforts can become.
You can create a new audience directly from the homepage or by selecting Audiences from the top navigation menu.
When creating an audience, you'll choose one of three audience types:
- Static Audience
- Dynamic Audience
- Periodic Audience
Each audience type serves a different purpose depending on how you plan to manage and update the audience over time.
Configure Your Audience
The options available during setup vary depending on the audience type you choose. For Static and Periodic audiences, you can specify a maximum audience size. This can help control your Social Contacts usage by limiting the number of users included in the audience.
If you create a Dynamic Audience, you'll have the option to configure triggers. Triggers allow the audience to automatically focus on users who meet specific conditions, such as following your account or mentioning your brand.
After selecting the audience type, you can define your audience using a variety of criteria, including behavior, location, and interests. For example, if you're managing a sports brand and want to identify users interested in sports, you could add the Interests criterion and specify Sports as the value.
Discover New X Users
The Discover Twitter Users tool searches across X to help you find users who match specific search criteria. This feature can be useful when you're looking for potential customers, industry professionals, or influencers who may be relevant to your business.
To access the tool, select Audiences from the navigation menu and choose Discover Twitter Users. Begin by entering a keyword and location that match the audience you're looking for. For example, a sports brand might search for users interested in Sports located in the United Kingdom. If you need to refine your search further, select the three-dot menu to open the Advanced Search options.
Advanced Search allows you to narrow your results using additional criteria, such as influence, follower count, or tweets per day. These filters can be especially useful when searching for influencers or highly active users within a particular topic.
Explore Your Community
The Community Wall helps you explore the people who already make up your community. Rather than searching across X, this feature focuses on users connected to your accounts and audiences, allowing you to better understand the people already engaging with your brand.
To access the Community Wall, select Audiences from the navigation menu and choose My Community. Using the View menu, you can switch between different perspectives of your community, including people who follow you, recently followed you, or other available community views. The Community Wall also includes advanced filtering tools that allow you to narrow the displayed audience.
For example, if you wanted to identify journalists who follow your account, you could search for users whose biography contains the word "Journalist." This makes it easy to identify specific groups within your community based on publicly available profile information.
