Understanding the Insights Summary View
Learn how to interpret the Insights Summary View, understand each summary panel, and use these high-level insights to quickly evaluate your audience before exploring the full report.
Overview
Follow this guide to learn how to use the Insights Summary View in an Audiense Insights report. The Summary View is the first page you'll see when opening a completed Insights report. It provides a high-level overview of your audience by highlighting the most important demographic characteristics, interests, brands, influencers, media sources, and audience segments.
Rather than exploring every section of the report individually, the Summary View gives you a quick snapshot of your audience, helping you identify key patterns before diving into the detailed insights available throughout the report.
Understanding the Summary View
The Summary View serves as the main dashboard for your Insights report. From this page, you can quickly review the most important characteristics of your audience before exploring the individual report tabs in greater detail. The dashboard includes the following summary panels:
- Demographic Summary
- How They Describe Themselves
- Top Brands
- Top Influencers
- Top Content Sources
- Audience Segments
Each panel provides a concise overview of a different aspect of your audience and can help guide your analysis throughout the rest of the report.
Demographic Summary
The Demographic Summary highlights the most significant demographic characteristics of your audience. This overview may include information such as the audience's primary countries, languages, and other key demographic traits compared to your selected baseline.
These insights can help you better understand who makes up your audience and inform decisions such as campaign localization, audience targeting, or regional marketing strategies.
How They Describe Themselves
The How They Describe Themselves panel highlights the most common words and phrases used in audience members' public profile biographies. These keywords provide valuable context about how your audience identifies itself, including occupations, hobbies, interests, communities, or affiliations. For example, you may discover that your audience commonly describes themselves as:
- Bloggers
- Musicians
- Football fans
- Entrepreneurs
- Marketers
Understanding how people describe themselves can help you create messaging that better aligns with your audience's identity and interests.
Top Brands
The Top Brands panel identifies the brands with the highest affinity among your audience. These brands often represent organizations, products, or companies that resonate strongly with your audience and can provide valuable insights for competitor analysis, partnership opportunities, or sponsorship research.
Selecting this panel opens the Influencers & Brands tab with the results filtered specifically to brands, where you can further refine the results using additional category filters.
Top Influencers
The Top Influencers panel highlights influential accounts that have strong relationships with your audience. Audiense generally categorizes influencers into two groups:
Macro Influencers
Macro influencers typically have more than 100,000 followers and often include celebrities, public figures, or highly recognized industry leaders. Partnering with macro influencers can provide significant reach and brand awareness. However, these partnerships often require larger investments, and broader audiences may not always closely align with your target market. Successful partnerships occur when there is strong overlap between the influencer's audience and your own.
Micro Influencers
Micro influencers generally have fewer than 100,000 followers, but often maintain stronger relationships within specific communities or industries. Although their audiences are smaller, micro influencers frequently generate higher engagement because they have built credibility and trust within niche audiences. For organizations seeking authentic engagement within a targeted market, micro influencers may provide stronger long-term value than larger celebrity accounts. The Top Influencers panel helps you identify both types of influencers so you can evaluate potential partnerships based on your campaign goals.
Top Content Sources
The Top Content Sources panel highlights the media outlets most frequently consumed or shared by your audience. These insights can help identify where your audience spends time consuming information and may assist when planning advertising placements, sponsored content, media partnerships, or content distribution strategies. Understanding your audience's preferred media sources can also help shape broader marketing and communications strategies.
Audience Segments
The Audience Segments panel provides a high-level visualization of how your audience is divided into clusters. Depending on the segmentation method selected when the report was created, these clusters represent audiences grouped by either:
- Interconnections — relationships between audience members.
- Affinities — similarities based on followed accounts and shared interests.
Selecting See All Segments opens the Audience Breakdown View, where you can explore each cluster in greater detail, review cluster summaries, compare segments, and perform additional analysis.
