What Data Does a Tracker Include?

Learn what information is collected by a Twitter (X) User Tracker, how often it's updated, and what each tracked metric represents.

Overview

A Twitter (X) User Tracker continuously collects account metrics from the moment it is created, allowing you to monitor account performance and growth over time.

The tracker updates automatically every hour, providing near real-time visibility into changes in account activity and audience growth.

Important: A tracker only collects data from the time it is created onward. Historical metrics from before the tracker was activated are not available.

How Often Is Tracker Data Updated?

Tracker data is refreshed every hour. This allows you to monitor account activity throughout the day and observe trends as they develop. The tracker continues collecting data until it is manually turned off.

What's Included in a Tracker?

Each tracker contains three primary sections:

  • Summary
  • Tags
  • Activity Chart

Summary

The Summary provides a high-level overview of the tracked account's performance.

By default, the report displays metrics from the current day beginning at 12:00 AM.

You can also change the reporting period to:

  • Today
  • Yesterday
  • Last 7 days
  • Last 30 days
  • A custom date and time range

For each metric, you'll see:

  • The current total value.
  • The change during the selected time period.

For example, selecting Yesterday displays:

  • The total value as of the end of yesterday.
  • The increase or decrease that occurred during yesterday.

Tags

A tracker can belong to one or more Tags.

Tags help organize multiple trackers into logical groups.

Selecting a tag opens the associated collection of trackers, making it easier to manage related accounts.

Activity Chart

The Activity Chart provides a visual representation of account performance over time.

By default, it displays Follower Growth, but you can:

  • Select different metrics.
  • Change the reporting period.
  • Display total values or changes over time.

The chart makes it easy to identify trends, spikes, or periods of growth.

Available Metrics

The tracker records a variety of account metrics, each updated hourly.

Followers

The total number of users following the tracked account.

This metric is commonly used to monitor audience growth over time.

Following

The number of accounts the tracked user follows.

Lists

The number of Twitter (X) Lists that include the tracked account.

Being included in Lists often indicates that other users consider the account valuable or relevant within a particular topic or community.

Retweets Received

The number of retweets received by the tracked account since the tracker was created.

Note: Retweets received before the tracker was activated are not included.

This value can occasionally decrease if users remove previously shared retweets.

Likes Received

The number of likes received by the tracked account's posts since the tracker was created.

As with retweets, this metric only includes activity recorded after tracking began.

Mentions

The number of original posts that mention the tracked account after the tracker was created.

Mentions from before the tracker was activated are not included.

Total Posts

The total number of posts published by the tracked account since the account was created on X.

This includes:

  • Original posts
  • Reposts (Retweets)

If older posts are deleted, this total may decrease.

Original Posts

The number of original posts published after the tracker was created.

Posts published before tracking began are not included.

Reposts Sent

The number of reposts (Retweets) made by the tracked account after tracking started.

When combined with Original Posts, this metric generally aligns with increases in Total Posts, although deleted posts may cause slight differences.

Important Notes

When interpreting tracker data, keep the following in mind:

  • Tracking begins only after the tracker is created.
  • Historical activity prior to tracker creation is unavailable.
  • Metrics refresh every hour.
  • Some metrics may decrease if posts, likes, or reposts are deleted after being recorded.
